Do you feel that college athletes should be paid? Thats the million dollar
question because many people go both ways thinking that college athletes should be paid and shouldn't be paid. With the money revenue that the NCAA makes i feel that they should be paid. In 2011 the NCAA hosted their annual March Madness basketball tournament that made a money revenue of 770 million dollars over a three week period. When you compare that to the 2011 NBA season that last 6 months they made 930 million dollars. When you look at it and do the math thats only 160 million dollars more then professional sports. The worst part about it is that the college athletes that were in part in the tournament wont get the slightest share of any of that. |
Watch this!!
In the video it shows you how the NCAA signed a contract with CBS sports for 10.8 billion dollars for 14 years and the rights to March Madness. Still none of the players see the smallest amount of money that they make the the NCAA. The money being paid to the CBS sports is revenue that the players made and not getting a cent back.
Many People have their own views on if college athletes should be paid or not? I personal feel that they should. Yes i get the point that they go to school first for their education and then second for sports. When you look at all the money the players make for their school and the NCAA takes a chunk of that money and the school takes it too and leaves the players with nothing well i feel like theirs something wrong with that. As long as the players "GPA" Grade Point Average is up to passing grades then i feel that they should be grated some sort of money cause there holding their responsibility as a student and a player at the same time, im not saying hundreds of thousands of dollars but how about 100 each game? Well as this topic comes to conversation more and more maybe they will give the players what they deserve.
